Missing mom, baby, grandmother found safe in eastern Shasta County

A missing mother, her baby daughter and grandmother were found safe Monday morning after spending the night in their vehicle, Redding police said.

Sgt. Rob Garnero said Morgan Panther, 27; Margo Panther, 8 months old; and Virginia “Ginger” Winter, 71, went for a drive after church Sunday and got stuck in the snow in eastern Shasta County.

They were found by a Shasta County roads employee after they hiked out from their vehicle, Garnero said. The county employee took them to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection station in Whitmore where they were reunited with family.

Garnero said all three were in good condition.

The family had been reported to police as last seen on Sunday during a church service and police had been searching for them.
